MPOWER Pro-tip 1
For help finding companies to apply to, your school’s financial aid office and career centers can be great resources.
Some of those applications will lead you to interviews, and you should be as prepared as possible for them. Making a good first impression is crucial for an in-person interview. It’s your chance to show a potential employer that you’re serious and excited about the company and position you applied for.

So, what do you wear? It’s always important to look clean, presentable, and professional, but depending on the company that you’re interviewing for, the dress code will vary. For example, if you’re interviewing at a traditional bank, it is best practice to wear a conservative suit. If you’re interviewing at a tech start-up, you may want to dress down a bit, so your interviewers know that you can fit in with the company culture.
Don’t be shy. It may be difficult to gauge what exactly to wear to interviews, but it never hurts to ask whoever is arranging your interview for their advice! However, If you have any doubts, remember it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed – that way you show that you put thought and effort into how you want to present yourself.
Interviewing can be stressful – you want to present yourself in a way where your skills, accomplishments, and potential shine through. Wear something that will make you feel and look confident – then focus on both showing and telling why you’re the best fit for the job.
