Global Citizens Fund, Where Potential Is Borderless

MPOWER’s new, nonprofit scholarship program is dedicated to expanding educational opportunities to international and DACA students.

Who We Are and What We Offer

The Global Citizens Fund is MPOWER Financing’s non-profit initiative dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for students from underserved communities.

We support promising DACA students, refugee students, and international students from underserved communities around the world.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit scholarship fund,  the Global Citizen Fund will fundraise for and distribute scholarships to support the education of students pursuing higher education in the United States and Canada.

Meet Our Students

Almost daily, our students tell us that MPOWER made their dreams come true by enabling their educational pursuits. We are proud to introduce some of MPOWER’s past scholarship winners who we believe will have a remarkable impact on society.

Gurusha

Gurusha is a Women in STEM Grand Prize winner. Gurusha believes technology can empower the differently-abled, and researches robot and assistive-led technologies to create a more inclusive, equitable world. “Bad design disables us; good design empowers us,” said Gurusha. Gurusha was the youngest ever participant in Google’s Solve for X think tank-like event k, as well as a national finalist of the NSS IIT Delhi Social Innovation Cell competition, where she competed solo against teams of four. As she pursues her master’s degree in human-computer interaction at DePaul University, Gurusha hopes to help other women in STEM pursue their passions: “I want to be the catalyst and inspire our community to believe in themselves and their STEM dreams.”

Bernice

Bernice is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Notre Dame with the goal of improving local communities. She believes Caribbean businesses are positioned to be levers of change to help alleviate social injustices. Bernice is the runner-up of the MPOWER monthly scholarship series.

“This scholarship serves as a beacon of hope to international students, especially from the Caribbean, that may be daunted by the hurdles they have to overcome,” Bernice wrote. “I want to personally thank MPOWER for being that supportive community and pledge my support in their vision to empower students' potential.”
